I’m Teaming Up With Vets to Improve Dogs’ Diets

Working Together to Help Dogs

Dear friends of dogs,

I have some wonderful news to share.

Nestled in the beautiful Connecticut town of Haddam is a kind, progressive veterinarian named Dr. Bernadette Aleksey – aka Dr. Bernie.

This vet offers all the expected veterinary services, but she goes way beyond that. Dr. Bernie has extensive additional training in herbal medicine, acupuncture and so many more alternative options.

I am honored to be included in Dr. Bernie’s latest newsletter. You can find the article below. I will have another article in Dr. Bernie’s September newsletter too… stay tuned!

I’m hoping we can reach many pet parents who are seeking more wholesome foods for their furchildren. There are so many pet guardians out there who want to improve their companion animals’ diets, but aren’t sure how to begin. Are you one of them? If so, feel free to contact me.

I hope you enjoy the article.

Best wishes to you and furkids,
Sarah Whitman, MS

August 2018

Meet Sarah Whitman, Master of Science, Holistic Nutrition, American College of Healthcare Sciences, Portland, OR – Delta Epsilon Tau Honor Society

Sarah Whitman earned a Master’s Degree in Holistic Nutrition in 2015 after her quest of quality nutritious food for her pets that began in 2007. She came to Dr. Bernie’s Healthy Pet Food Seminar a few months ago and asked if she could give our clients a short story of her experience with dietary options for companion pets. Her web site is https://dogfoodcoach.com/.

Her key points to share with you are:
1) She was sure that kibble was good for her pets until she spoke with other specialists that introduced the value of home cooked food for her pets.
2) She has a choice of the food that she buys, cooks, and eats but her pets don’t have a choice they eat what she gives them or what they find laying around.
3) “Food is Medicine” and “Food is Love” so she continues her journey for food that supports her pet’s well-being and immunity.
4) Unfortunately, research shows commercial pet food can pose several risks, including subpar processing standards, inappropriate nutrient content, nutrient depletion, mislabeling, contamination from bacteria, viruses, chemicals and drugs, breed-specific issues, disregard if individual requirements and more.
5) Opting for human grade whole food from your human grocery store will improve your pet’s nutritional profile.
6) The right food can also act as a tool to help your pet’s body re-balance and protect itself against health challenges.

One last question to ponder: Before commercial food was invented what did dogs, cats and other companion animals eat?
