I have two dogs, at the opposite ends of the spectrum.
The young is a 7 month old golden retriever named Autumn. Her nutritional needs (and appetite) are tremendous, and I was a little concerned about her getting all the minerals, etc. that she needs as she grows and flourishes.
Hence the young part of the crockpot stew.
The old is my almost-15 year old golden mix named Cori. Some days, her appetite is a little less enthusiastic than it used to be. And she needs good nutritional support in her elderly years too.
Hence the old part of the crockpot stew.
You see, this stew tempts Cori’s taste buds in a way many other recipes don’t. And it is so incredibly loaded with nutrition, that I feel I am truly supporting her nutritional needs as well with this recipe.
The recipe uses a whole chicken, including the bones and cartilage. These help support her generally and the gelatin from the bones supports her aging bones and joints.
This Young and Old Crockpot Stew recipe does it all. It fits nutritional needs for all age groups, and so far it has been a hit for all dogs who get a taste of it. You can feel good making and serving this recipe to dogs of any age.
