Homemade Dog Treats With Pumpkin

You have probably seen my recent posts about including pumpkin in your dog’s diet. And now, with Halloween over and fall charging along, pumpkins are still all over the place. Here, I share with you a recipe for homemade dog treats with pumpkin.

Many of us enjoyed Halloween treats ourselves and with our families. Now, here is a special treat recipe for your dog. It includes pumpkin and other healthy ingredients.

I also have a couple other snack and treat ideas for your dog. Enjoy!

I call these “Autumn Treats” because my dog’s name is Autumn, and because these are an autumn-themed treat.

Homemade Dog Treats With Pumpkin – aka Autumn Treats

Ingredients
2 cups coconut flour or almond flour
1 whole egg
1 cup diced apples or plain applesauce – if using applesauce, should be plain, so spices, no sugar other sweeteners and definitely no xylitol or what they sometimes call “birch sugar” now
1 cup pumpkin – if canned. use plain with no additional ingredients. Or use fresh.
1 teaspoon ginger – can use fresh or dry
coconut oil, butter or cooking spray to lightly grease cookie sheet

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cover a cookie sheet with foil
Lightly grease the cookie sheet with coconut oil, butter or cooking spray
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix together
In your hand, shape small pieces of batter into cookie size balls or patties
Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes.

Recipe Notes
With no preservatives, these cookies should be refrigerated or frozen. As with most fresh foods, you should use these within 4-5 days from the fridge. Or, you can just freeze the batch and take out a few at a time as needed.

Enjoy! ~ Sarah
